How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Broadcast Theme
With Broadcast selling across categories as different as jewelry, food, beauty, kids' products, and clothing, stores often need to attach care instructions, ingredient lists, or size guides — Shopify's Files section is where those live.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
- Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
- Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
- Paste that URL into a product description, a product tab, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
- Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.
Pairing this with product tabs
Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view, even though Broadcast's own product tabs make files a natural fit for the theme. Once you're linking more than a handful of documents across products, an app like Download Page & File Search MP adds a searchable file widget so customers aren't hunting through individual product pages to find one.
