How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Dawn Theme

Most Dawn stores end up with a handful of PDFs — spec sheets, manuals, size guides — sitting in Shopify's Files section, linked in one place and forgotten everywhere else.

Steps

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
2. Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
3. Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
4. Paste that URL into a product description, a page, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
5. Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.

Finding a file later

Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view. Once you're past a handful of PDFs, customers have no way to find the right one except a link you've placed somewhere specific.
