How to Add to Cart From a Collection Page in Shopify, Theme by Theme

Letting shoppers act on a product straight from the collection grid is one feature with at least four different names, and the name your theme uses is the main reason it's hard to find in the editor.

Four names, one job

Search for "quick add" in a theme that calls it "Quick shop" and you will find nothing, which is the single most common reason merchants conclude their theme can't do this. It usually can. Dawn and the other Online Store 2.0 free themes call it Quick add. Broadcast calls it Quick Add. Empire calls it Quick shop. Force, Motion and Warehouse call it Quick buy. Horizon, Impulse and Prestige ship Quick view and Quick buy as two separate toggles.

Preview and purchase are not the same feature

Underneath the naming there are genuinely two behaviours, and themes split them differently.

Quick buy / quick add puts the product in the cart from the grid. For products with no variants that's one click; for products with variants the theme opens a small drawer or popup to pick options first.

Quick view opens a preview of the product in a popup so the shopper can look before deciding, without a full page load.

Some themes give you both as independent settings. Broadcast deliberately merges them into one toggle — its Quick Add opens a variant drawer only when the product needs one. Testament goes the other way and offers preview only.

Which one to turn on

If most of your catalog is simple products with no variants, quick add is the higher-value setting — it removes a page load from the path to cart. If your products need a size or colour decision, a preview is usually the better first step, because adding the wrong variant to a cart costs you more than an extra click did.
