How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Impulse Theme
Impulse already gives you native FAQ and press coverage sections — files like spec sheets and press kits are the natural next layer on top of those.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
- Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
- Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
- Paste that URL into a product description, an FAQ answer, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
- Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.
Pairing this with your FAQ page
Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view, even though Impulse's own FAQ and press sections make files a natural fit for the theme. Once you're linking more than a handful of documents across those pages, an app like Download Page & File Search MP adds a searchable file widget so customers aren't hunting through your FAQ page to find one.
