How to Enable the Age Verifier in Shopify Impulse Theme

The age verifier is a native Impulse popup that requires a visitor to confirm their age before browsing — relevant for alcohol, vape, and similar age-restricted products.

Steps

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on Impulse.
2. Click Theme settings, then find the Age verifier (or similarly named) section.
3. Turn it on, and set the minimum age and the messaging shown on the gate.
4. Set what happens if a visitor declines — usually a redirect away from the store.
5. Click Save.

A theme-level age gate is a UX layer, not legal compliance on its own — check what your specific product category and jurisdiction actually require, since some categories need more than a self-reported popup.
