How to Choose a Preset in Shopify Impulse Theme

Design

Impulse ships with several complete style presets — different fonts, colors, and layout defaults bundled together — so you can start from a finished look instead of building one from scratch.

Steps

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on Impulse.
  2. Click Theme settings, then look for a Presets option near the top.
  3. Preview each preset (Impulse, Dune, Terrain, and Apothecary are the built-in options) before committing.
  4. Apply the one closest to your brand, then fine-tune colors and fonts from there rather than starting from the theme's raw defaults.
  5. Click Save.

A preset is a starting point, not a lock-in — every setting it changes (colors, fonts, section defaults) stays fully editable afterward.
