How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Empire Theme

Large-catalog stores on Empire spanning jewelry, cosmetics, apparel, and home decor often need to attach spec sheets, ingredient lists, or care instructions — Shopify's Files section is where those live.

Steps

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
  2. Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
  3. Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
  4. Paste that URL into a product description, a product tab, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
  5. Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.

The real gap

Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view, and this becomes a real problem fast once you're managing documents for hundreds of SKUs. An app like Download Page & File Search MP adds a searchable file widget so customers can find the right document without you manually linking every one from every product page.
