How to Add Breadcrumbs in Shopify Empire Theme

Breadcrumbs show a shopper the path back to where they came from — Home > Collection > Product — and it's a native Empire setting rather than something you need to build with navigation menus.

Steps

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on Empire.
  2. Open a product or collection page and select the relevant page-level section.
  3. Find the Show breadcrumbs (or similarly named) setting and turn it on.
  4. Click Save.

Breadcrumbs matter a lot on a large-catalog store with deep category structures — they're often the fastest way for a shopper to step back up a level without hitting the browser's back button.
