How to Add a Discount Code Box to the Cart in Shopify Broadcast Theme

Most themes only let shoppers enter a discount code at checkout, but Broadcast (since version 7.1) has a real native Discount code block that works right in the cart or cart drawer, with the subtotal updating live.

Steps

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on Broadcast.
2. Select the Cart drawer from the Overlay section of the theme editor (or the full Cart page template, if that's your cart type).
3. Click Add block and choose Discount code.
4. Click Save.

This is a real conversion advantage over cart pages that only accept codes at checkout — a shopper who applies a code early and sees the discount reflected in their subtotal is less likely to abandon before reaching checkout.
