How to Add a Discount Code Box to the Cart in Shopify Refresh Theme

This is a common point of confusion: shoppers expect to enter a discount code in the cart, but Refresh's cart (drawer or page) has no code field at all.

Steps

1. Open Theme settings > Cart — there's no discount code setting here, because this isn't a Refresh limitation specifically.
2. Shopify's discount code field lives on the checkout page, not the cart, for every theme — it appears automatically once a shopper proceeds to checkout.
3. If you want shoppers to see or apply a code earlier, the only theme-level option is adding a note or banner in the cart pointing them toward checkout — the code field itself can't be moved into the cart page.
4. Some merchants pre-apply a code via a discount link (/discount/CODENAME) shared in marketing instead of asking shoppers to type it in manually.

This one isn't really a Refresh gap — it's how Shopify's checkout is structured across every theme.
