How to Duplicate Your Shopify Horizon Theme Before Editing

Before making any real changes to a live Horizon theme, duplicate it first — Shopify has no built-in "undo" once changes are saved and published.

Steps

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
2. Find your live Horizon theme, click the ⋯ menu next to it.
3. Select Duplicate. Shopify creates a full copy in your theme library.
4. Make your edits on the duplicate, not the live theme.
5. When you're happy with the result, use Publish on the duplicate to make it live, or keep the original as a permanent rollback point.

This matters even more on Horizon than older themes — its nested block layouts can get intricate fast, and there's more to lose if an edit goes wrong.
