How to Add a Promo Banner in Shopify Horizon Theme

Horizon supports promo banners as a standalone section, and also as a block that sits inside your navigation menu dropdown — two different placements for the same kind of message.

Steps

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on Horizon.
  2. For a standalone banner: click Add section, choose Promo banner (or similar naming), then set its image, text, and link.
  3. For an in-menu promo: select the Header section, find the menu block for the dropdown you want, and add a promo block inside it — this is only possible because of Horizon's nested block support.
  4. Click Save.

In-menu promos are a good spot for a "new arrivals" or seasonal callout, since they show up exactly where shoppers are already browsing categories.
