How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Warehouse Theme
Catalog-heavy stores on Warehouse often need to attach spec sheets, datasheets, or compliance documents to individual products — Shopify's Files section is where those live.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
- Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
- Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
- Paste that URL into a product description, a product tab, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
- Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.
Pairing this with a large catalog
Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view, and this becomes a real problem fast once you're managing spec sheets for hundreds or thousands of SKUs. An app like Download Page & File Search MP adds a searchable file widget so customers can find the right datasheet without you manually linking every one from every product page.
