How to Show a Stock Countdown Bar in Shopify Warehouse Theme

Warehouse's stock countdown bar is a distinctive feature — a visual bar that fills or drains based on real inventory, set up through a specific product tag rather than a settings toggle.

Steps

  1. Make sure the product's variant inventory is actually tracked — go to that variant's inventory settings and confirm quantity tracking is on.
  2. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on Warehouse.
  3. Open a product page and select the Product information section, then turn on Show inventory quantity.
  4. Open the product in your Shopify admin and add a tag in the format __stock:VALUE — replace VALUE with the number you want treated as "full stock." For example, __stock:100 means the bar shows half-full once inventory drops to 50.
  5. Click Save. To remove the bar later, just delete that tag from the product.

Because the "full stock" number is whatever you type into the tag, not necessarily your real starting inventory, use this sparingly and on genuinely limited items — Warehouse's own documentation is upfront that most stock-countdown data across the web is fake urgency, and overusing it on well-stocked items undercuts the honesty of the ones where it's true.
