How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Colorblock Theme
Colorblock suits larger catalogs, and larger catalogs tend to mean more product manuals, spec sheets, and datasheets than a single linked file can comfortably cover.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
- Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
- Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
- Paste that URL into a product description, a page, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
- Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.
Scaling past a handful of files
Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view, and manually placing a link per product doesn't scale once you're managing documents across a big catalog. An app like Download Page & File Search MP adds one searchable widget instead of dozens of individually placed links.
