How to Manage and Search Files in Shopify Sense Theme
Sense's minimal storefront keeps navigation simple, but files like size guides and care instructions still have to live somewhere behind the scenes.
Steps
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Files (some admin versions show this as Content > Files).
- Click Upload files and add your documents — Shopify accepts any file type except HTML, up to 20 MB each. Video files can go up to 1 GB, capped at 10 minutes, in MOV, MP4, or WEBM.
- Once uploaded, click a file to copy its public URL.
- Paste that URL into a product description, a page, or a navigation menu link — this is the only way customers reach it.
- Repeat per file. There's no bulk-link tool, so each one gets placed manually.
Keeping it findable without clutter
Shopify's Files section is admin-only — there's no customer-facing search or browse view. For a minimal store, that usually means one link per product page, which stops scaling once you have more than a few guides to manage. An app like Download Page & File Search MP adds a single searchable widget instead, so you're not manually re-linking files across dozens of pages.
