How to Add a Blog Search Bar in Shopify Origin Theme

Origin doesn't ship with a search box scoped to just your blog — here's what it has natively, and how to add real blog-only search.

Steps

  1. Origin's built-in search (the magnifying glass icon in the header) opens a store-wide predictive search. It does include blog articles in its results, but it searches products, pages, and collections at the same time.
  2. There's no theme editor setting to add a search box that's scoped to just the blog — Origin's section list doesn't include one.
  3. If you only need shoppers to find articles by title, the header search already technically works, since blog posts appear in those results.
  4. If you want a proper search bar that lives on the blog page itself and only searches articles — plus keyword-level insight into what readers are actually searching for — an app like Blog Filter & Blog Search HUE adds that as a dedicated section you can place on your blog template.

For most stores with a small blog, native search is enough. It's worth adding a dedicated blog search once your article count grows past what a tag filter alone can browse comfortably.
